Find Your Next Adventure—and the Gear to Match It—With New Online Guide to Maine-Made Outdoor Experiences
Maine Outdoor Brands launches Adventure Local Maine to spotlight homegrown gear, guides, and retailers across the state
[Portland, ME] – June 24, 2025 – Maine Outdoor Brands (MOB) is proud to unveil Adventure Local Maine, a new online platform designed to help residents and visitors discover high-quality outdoor gear, guide services, and gear libraries—while supporting the small businesses powering Maine’s $3.4 billion outdoor recreation economy.
Whether you’re gearing up for a weekend hike, planning a family paddling trip, or heading north for ski season, Adventure Local Maine makes it easy to connect with more than 130 trusted Maine-based brands, gear libraries, and experience providers. Visitors can search by activity, season, or region to find everything from handcrafted gear to expert-led excursions—bringing the best of Maine’s outdoor community together in one place.
“This website is all about making it easier for people to support the local businesses that help us enjoy Maine’s outdoors,” said Jenny Kordick, Executive Director of Maine Outdoor Brands. “From the brands that build the gear to the guides who know the trails, Adventure Local Maine celebrates the people who make outdoor adventure more accessible, more sustainable, and more connected to place.”
MOB’s Adventure Local Maine program was initially launched as a seasonal campaign in the summer of 2020, when the pandemic brought tourism to a standstill, and directly contributed to a statewide effort to shore up Maine’s outdoor recreation industry. The expansion of the program and website launch comes at another pivotal time for Maine’s outdoor sector, which continues to navigate supply chain disruptions, shifting tourism patterns, and economic uncertainty. Adventure Local Maine is part of MOB’s broader strategy to increase visibility for local companies, build economic resilience, and deepen consumer engagement with Maine-made products and experiences.
“Every time someone chooses to book with a local guide or buy from a local maker, they’re investing in a more vibrant, values-driven outdoor economy,” said Kordick.
The project was funded through a grant from the Maine Office of Tourism, in alignment with state efforts to strengthen year-round tourism, drive regional economic growth, and support the next generation of outdoor entrepreneurs.
Participating brands include iconic names and emerging innovators alike, such as L.L.Bean, Flowfold, Hüga Heat, Hyperlite Mountain Gear, Jetboil, Shaw & Tenney, Good-to-Go, Winterstick Snowboards, and many more.
